Ken Gold opens the door to an Alice in Wonderland landscape full of double-headed monsters, humanoids with light-bulb wings and whales with skateboard wheels. This exhibition opens the door to Gold's imagination exhibiting Tim Burtonesque like sculptures that depict horror in conjunction with a naive playful imagination. As an artist, Gold has always been fascinated by monstrosities and oddities and wants to invite:

"...the viewer, to open their eyes to the wonder of the world and think about their personal everyday relationships, with people, animals and culture."

The experience of wonder and inviting people to engage with these sculptural oddities is entering a magical door into Gold's bizarre and unique imagination. Dinosaur creatures with bat ears, Hoover tubes with human heads and cacti monsters fill the world of Ken's imagination.

Ken Gold is a zoologist and animal behavior specialist by day caring for animals on hollywood film sets like the recent Django Unchained by Quentin Tarantino. During his down time he creates these animated sculptures out of encaustic wax, inventing brushes and innovating processes to create these other-worldly magical creatures. He has traveled extensively around the world and incorporates a worldly perspective into these off the wall sculptures.

The exhibition opens on Friday June 28, 2013 and runs through to July 29, 2013.

Cornelia Arts Building Studio to Share with Terrific Roommate

Contact Randi Russo at randirusso@me.com. Due to my departing Chicago, Randi can use a new art studio roommate.

The Cornelia Arts Building is becoming a destination, and Randi is a cool roommate, and a damned good artist.
