Sandra Holubow and Judith Roth: Unforgettable Places, Memorable People December 12, 2013 – January 24, 2014

The Koehnline Museum of Art presents:

Sandra Holubow and Judith Roth:

Unforgettable Places, Memorable People

A fascinating side-by-side look at works by contemporary Chicago artists Sandra Holubow and Judith Roth, each of whom brings a unique perspective to capturing
the city. Roth’s paintings and drawings focus on the individual from head to toe, while Holubow’s paintings and collages examine the collective aspects of community
and “the ties that bind.” Yet, their art is similar in its use of strong form, color, and asymmetry. Unforgettable Places, Memorable People highlights Roth’s expressionistic depiction of the human form and Holubow’s close study of urban environments.

Public Reception: Thursday, December 12, 5 - 8 p.m.
Exhibition runs thru: December 12, 2013 – January 24, 2014

Thanks for Caffeine VII

Sandra Holubow sent a note thanking those who worked to make Caffeine VII a success.
She writes:

Thanks to the many people who were instrumental in making CAFFEINE VII the success it is. The reception was, again, a fun-filled party because of the efforts of Kim Laurel who got the word out, and the eye-catching postcards by Fletcher Hayes. And we are grateful to Myoko Whiteside, who, again, did an artful job of beautifying the tables, while Bill Whiteside, our accountant and installation "carpenter," once again, sold our cups. Catherine Cajandig, again, did a wonderful job of arranging the art so that each was shown to best advantage,  orchestrating the entire appearance of the exhibit. Newcomers to our tireless team of volunteers were Patricia Clark who expertly proofed for our postcard, and Lorre Slaw, who made certain we had plenty of food, and we did!  Richard Maltz, brought in our wine. Again, Sandra Holubow coordinated volunteers and hyped membership for the event, with the aid of Ruyell Ho, who lent his judgement and wisdom to us all. And Fred Holubow documented it with his photographs, which will soon be posted. (Watch for them on this blog.) THANK YOU CAFFEINE VII TEAM,  AND SPECIALTHANKS TO THE ARTISTS FOR PARTICIPATING IN THIS UNIQUE EVENT, WHICH COULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED WITHOUT ALL OF YOU.THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU ALL!

Understatement: Lots happening in October

Hi all ABG blog posters,

                                          Kathy Weaver here.

First, THANK YOU,
Pete, for taking care of the blog and posting all our items. I enjoy reading what everyone is up to, as I'm sure we all do. I will be taking over from Pete for a couple months and am looking forward to receiving your news and posting it.

From my experience of doing the blog a couple years ago (before Nancy)I know that it's lots easier for the person posting if you follow the directions on the right hand side of the blog.
There's not much to it, just the getting around to doing it, so send those messages in via g-mail. Love to hear from you.

Reminder to Exhibitors

REMINDER TO EXHIBITORS: delivery of art work is Thursday, October 3, between 4 - 6 PM,  and Friday, October 4, between noon - 3 PM.
ALL WORK MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ARTIST'S CUP. Visitors to the Opening Reception, Sunday, October 13, 2--5 PM, may not buy a piece of art on the walls, but they want a work by the artist--thus the popularity of the cup project. This is our only fundraiser, so please help us cover costs of installation, food & wine, postcards, and other expenses!
