Chicago Artists Month 2012
Celebrating Artists and Their Neighborhoods
Art Block by Block will be the theme for Chicago Artists Month (CAM) 2012, celebrating the intimate connection Chicago's artists and neighborhoods have forged, to their mutual benefit. CAM 2012 offers valuable promotional exposure for Chicago's visual arts community and will begin accepting applications in May from artists and organizations interested in presenting programs as part of this popular month-long celebration of Chicago's visual arts community. The Chicago Artists Month 2012 theme, Art Block by Block, explores the impact of Chicago-based artists on Chicago's neighborhoods. Inspired by the city's cultural planning process and its focus on engaging creatives in every community, Chicago Artists Month 2012 will examine how visual artists enhance Chicago's cultural landscape and make each neighborhood unique. Chicago's artists are active citizens: they contribute to the civic dialogue as designers of public art, they strengthen the fabric of our neighborhoods with community art-making projects, and they inspire conversations that address the concerns of our communities. Chicago Artists Month 2012 celebrates the city's art and artists as essential building blocks in the development of vibrant and livable neighborhoods that connect to make Chicago a world-class creative city.
