Laura Cerf-Dahl's painting Lotus will be on display at Betts B-2 (672-678 Central Ave.) as part of the Fifth Annual Highland Park Art Walk during the entire month of June.  Artists will greet visitors ("Meet the Artist Day") on Saturday, June 5 (noon-4 PM).  Reception and award ceremony will also be on June 5, 4-6 PM at the BBQ Pit, 589 Elm Place.  (Free, with cash bar.)  The Art Walk is a juried show presented in downtown storefronts and businesses by Anatomically Correct.  Info:  www.highlandparkartwalk.org

Ken Gold and Shelley Gilchrist are exhibiting work at the 4th Annual Encaustic Conference at Montserrat College of Art.  Joseph Carroll of the Boston Drawing Project was the juror for the 10-person exhibit, Flow and Control, June 11 - July 9, at 301 Gallery in Beverly, MA.  Both are members of FusedChicago, an encaustic group started by Shelley eighteen months ago.

Constance Vepstas received a second place award in the Art and Photography category from the literary magazine Rambunctious Review.  A photograph from her series Money, the Root of All Evil was chosen for the theme "Money."

A member's news; an ARC opening

Jackie Moses has paintings and sculptures in Focus 4, an exhibit by four solo artists, at the Chicago Gallery of the Illinois State Museum (James R. Thompson Center, 100 W. Randolph, #2-100), June 1 through September 24. Jackie's exhibit is curated by Jane Stevens.  Judith Raphael, Mel Watkin and Kevin Veara are also showing their 2-D work in the gallery.  Jackie's exhibit is entitled Recent Paintings and Reliquaries.  Reception Friday, June 11, 5-7:30 PM.  (Enter from LaSalle after 6PM.)  Building hours are M-F, 9-5.

When you're out and about in Old Town, look for Eric H. Steele's sculpture, Victor.  Beginning May 19, it will be installed at Wells and Burton for a year, as part of the Lakefront Sculpture Exhibition.

Deus Ex Machina, a two-person exhibit, opens at the Charnel House this Friday, May 14, 6-9 PM.  The Chicago-based artists are Megan Sterling and Stan Konowitz.  Vicky Szilagyi writes that the exhibit "blends the ecclesiastic esoterica of divinity with the rigid, crusader-imposed decorum of religion.  Megan Sterling's work deconstructs a classical approach to religious iconography, while Stan Konowitz's paintings question human nature from a dogmatic sense of morality."  3421 W. Robert Kameczura announces a concert by the Pilgrim Chamber Players and soprano Patrice Michaels on Sunday May 23.  Among other pieces, they will perform Three Kameczura Songs, that is, three of Robert's poems set to music by the late composer, Dan Tucker.  Robert will give a short talk about working with Dan Tucker and will introduce the music.  3 PM, Highland Park Community House, 1991 Sheridan Rd., Highland Park.  $20.
