Hey Everyone, David DeRosa wanted me to pass this along;

David will be teaching a course at Highland Part Art Center in Art Business... Good for newbies AND those of us who've been around the art block a bit and are looking for some new ideas or a refresher. This is ths website: http://www.theartcenterhp.org/

Brief description: The subject matter for this course is the importance of business savvy for the contemporary, non recreational, self sufficient, self representing visual artist intent on functioning as a contributing member of the professional arts community. The biggest mistake any artist can make is waiting for success to come to them. This course then will provide the tools necessary to build a practical, proactive, art-centric business plan, thereby laying the foundation for a lifetime of not just professional, but personal satisfaction in the artistic world arena. Course fee covers textbooks, handouts as well as portfolio refinement and website development.TAC Members $185 / Non-Members $205

Tuesdays 1:00 - 3:30pm and 6:30 - 9:00pm

8 week course

Thanks again,
-David DeRosa

Our personal perceptions on the issue cover as broad a range as our materials of choice. Decomposed lost and found objects, recycled plastic and metal, salvaged scrap wood, earth and water are some materials which are effectively reconfigured to translate our ideas into physical forms. The sculptural works take on subjective and collective meaning to contribute to a genuine meta-landscape.”Mimi Peterson

Climate Change in the North Woods May 30-August 16A group of artists, scientists and educators recently came together in Wisconsin to consider ways that art could increase public understanding about climate change. The result is a thought-provoking environmental art exhibition, featuring everything from paintings, quilts, puzzles and music, which explores the roots of climate change, encouraging everyone to take action to preserve the environment.
