June, and (none too soon) the blog's vacation

Laura Cerf-Dahl's painting Lotus will be on display at Betts B-2 (672-678 Central Ave.) as part of the Fifth Annual Highland Park Art Walk during the entire month of June.  Artists will greet visitors ("Meet the Artist Day") on Saturday, June 5 (noon-4 PM).  Reception and award ceremony will also be on June 5, 4-6 PM at the BBQ Pit, 589 Elm Place.  (Free, with cash bar.)  The Art Walk is a juried show presented in downtown storefronts and businesses by Anatomically Correct.  Info:  www.highlandparkartwalk.org

Ken Gold and Shelley Gilchrist are exhibiting work at the 4th Annual Encaustic Conference at Montserrat College of Art.  Joseph Carroll of the Boston Drawing Project was the juror for the 10-person exhibit, Flow and Control, June 11 - July 9, at 301 Gallery in Beverly, MA.  Both are members of FusedChicago, an encaustic group started by Shelley eighteen months ago.

In addition, Rita is participating in Drawing Attention, with members Jim MacRoberts, Fletcher Hayes and Julia Oehmke.  This drawing group exhibit opens at Tom Robinson's Studio/Gallery on Friday, June 4, 5-9PM (through June 26).  2416 W. North Ave.  (More on the May 19 blog post.)

A painting by George C. Clark is featured in the Illinois Railway Museum poster (18" x 12") now on sale at the museum gift shop in Union, IL.

Constance Vepstas received a second place award in the Art and Photography category from the literary magazine Rambunctious Review.  A photograph from her series Money, the Root of All Evil was chosen for the theme "Money."

ARC Gallery (historic, nationally known, women-run, not-for-profit Chicago institution) is seeking new members.  A tea-and-info session will be held Sunday, June 13, 2PM  for interested women artists.  This is a great chance to find out how the gallery is run and what the benefits of membership are.  832 W.
