"Tablet weaving, or card weaving, has been found in many cultures all the way back to the iron age. It involves very simple tools consisting of a card or a tablet with 3 -6 holes (usually) that acts as a shed that a weft is passed through. The card is turned to create variations in the pattern." http://www.messhall.org/

Amy Butts, a successful jewelry smith, is looking for a new, not too expensive, space where she can work and also have occasional clients visit.
Please contact here if you have a studio for rent or someone else who might.
Her phone number is 773-895-8806.
Her email is amy@ladysmithlewelrystudio@comcast.net

WHERE: John Keith Sculpture Studio, 2215 S. UnionAvenue, #403, Chicago
WHEN: Around 9:30 or 10 PM-?
This year we will have our own Black Sabbath tribute. Videos will include previous weird footage from past Cybernaliacelebrations of Spring and some new projection art which we are rushing to finish. We may have a Skull Club initiation if there are any people who are ready to join. Hope to see you and your friends! Please bring extra booze, etc. We will provide eat-things. Please dress Sci Fi if you can, but tin foil will be provided for last-minute adornment.
John Keith"s studio is 1 block east of Halsted, 2 doors south of Cermak. There's plenty of free parking right in front of the building, almost under the expressway. Go up the outside steps, thru a small yellow door, next to the loading dock. You will find yourself in a cavernous cement lobby adorned by the world's ugliest French Provincial sofa.
Call up John Keith on the wall phone by the directory. We will buzz you in through the next inner door. Walk up to the 4th floor. Leave appliances in the lobby*; we will send the freight elevator down periodically to pick em up. Sorry, you can't call the elevator from the ground floor, so if you want to party with us you will have to climb those stairs! Please RSVP so we will know how much tequila to buy.*Now is the time to round up your oldest motored appliances. We need old blenders, vacuum cleaners, fans, toasters and those dangerous electric space heaters. This year we are also seeking power saws and belt sanders for a special event.
