First snow can't stop the art

Bonnie Peterson invites us all to her house in Michigan for a weekend of wine-tasting and cross-country skiing. We wish.  This view from her (to-die-for) studio is toward a ski trail in a forest just a quarter-mile from Michigan Tech and the city of Houghton.

Ruyell Ho's daughter Amanda Ross-Ho is participating this week in Picturing the Studio at SAIC's Sullivan Galleries, 33 S. State, 7th floor.  The opening is Friday Dec. 11th, 4:30 to 7PM.  Amanda arrived in Chicago on Sunday and had 5 days to design and create her exhibit.  Other artists include Bas Jan Ader, Conrad Bakker, John Baldessari, Stephanie Brooks, Ivan Brunetti, Ann Craven, Julian Dashper, Dana DeGiulio, Susanne Doremus, Joe Fig, Dan Fischer, Julia Fish, Nicholas Frank, Alicia Frankovich, Judith Geichman, Rodney Graham, Karl Haendel, Shane Huffman, Barbara Kasten, Matt Keegan, Daniel Lavitt, Adelheid Mers, Tom Moody, Bruce Nauman, Paul Nudd, Frank Piatek, Leland Rice, David Robbins, Kay Rosen, Carrie Schneider, Roman Signer, Amy Sillman, Frances Stark, Nicholas Steindorf, and James Welling.
The exhibit continues through February 13.

This exhibit is part of a year-long project, Studio Chicago.  Interviews and upcoming exhibits at the MCA are covered at the website:  http://www.studiochicago.org/, well worth book-marking.

Meg Guttman, friend of the breakfast group, is participating in the Holiday Art Fair this Sunday, December 13, from 10-5 at Architectural Artifacts, 4325 N. Ravenswood in Chicago.  About seventy-five artists will be showing their work.  Meg creates fabric purses and pillows, incorporating her photos of architectural details of Chicago buildings.
