Judith Roth's graphite drawing "GAITERS"  (44x34) is included in the Women's International Juried Art Exhibition "Gendering Desire: Liberationl Power, and Pleasure" at the Koehnline Museum of Art, October 2-24, 2014 - This image reflects echoes of both genders - masculine and feminine ambiguities.  Do elevated shoes reflect power? Do high heels exude power? The fingerless gloves, the torn stockings, the gaiters, all add hints of dominance and submission....

ABG Members Exhibit at Oakton

The Women's and Gender Studies Program at Oakton Community College is once again having its public reception for the annual International Women's Exhibit. This year's theme is "Gendering Desire: Liberation, Power, and Pleasure." The Opening is Thursday, October 2, 5 - 8 PM, Koehnline Museum, 1600 East Golf Rd., Des Plaines, IL.

 

The Exhibit features work of 68 local, national, and international artists who visually explore ways in which gender affects experiences of passion and pleasure. Not to be missed, the following artists represent the Artists Breakfast Group:

George Clark Exhibits

GEORGE C. CLARK's watercolor painting Saddle-tank Switch Engine will be one of 26 artworks featured in the first annual national exhibition by members of the American Society of Railway Artists, held at The Station Art Gallery, 11 English Street in Westfield, New York near the shore of Lake Erie in the Chautauqua wine-growing region.  Everyone is invited to the opening reception on Friday, September 19 from 6 to 9pm.  After the opening, regular gallery hours will be 2 to 5pm on Fridays, 11am to 4pm on Saturdays, and 1 to 4pm on Sundays through October 12, 2014.  Clark and a number of other exhibiting artists will be attending the opening reception.

Space Gallery: This show interests itself in the “non-objective”: art that is not representational, that contains no recognizable figures or objects, art that has no intentional derivation from any concrete matter. The work for this show was selected because each artist uses the surface as a crucial element beyond a vehicle on which to apply a medium….either revealing what is behind/under the surface or concealing/altering/manipulating the surface itself and in a palette of white, black, gray, or neutral.
