Art, Nature and Science, an exhibit now at the Illinois State Museum, 100 W. Randolph (Suite 2-100), until May 7. The show was curated by Jane Stevens, and also includes paintings by
James Mesple and work by a close relative of Michelle's. Artists' opening: Thursday, Feb. 11, 5-7:30 PM. Gallery hours are M-F, 9-5.

Joan Minsky will have paintings and sketches on display and for sale at the Lakeview Art Supply Store, corner of Lincoln and Melrose Avenues. Some pieces are on the walls, while others are in drawers.

ARC Gallery is hosting the Chicago Women's Caucus for Art exhibit
Off Center, a midwest regional show that is part of the National Women's Caucus for Art Confab being held in Chicago this year (Feb. 10-15). The exhibit was juried by Aron Packer and Ann Rosen, and will include work by several of our members:

Judith Roth. The exhibit runs February 3-27, with an ARC Gallery reception on Feb. 5 (6-9PM), and a CWCA artists' reception on Feb. 12 (6-9PM).

Lucy Lippard and sponsored by the Women's Caucus for Art. Even if you don't own any dog-eared copies of Lippard's books (

Mixed Blessings), this is an exhibit to see. Lippard has been paying attention to and writing about art made by women since the 1960's. The WCA reception with the artists will be held February 12, 6-9PM. The show is up now and runs through February 25. See

The College Art Association conference takes place Feb. 10-14 at the Hyatt Regency. If you are not a member, it is possible to attend individual conference talks or the book and trade fair - for a fee. Check the website
http://conference.collegeart.org/2010/. Some of the talks and panel discussions are hosted jointly by the CAA and the WCA and those are open to the public.

A sad farewell to the
Byron Roche Gallery in River North, which is closing its
physical doors at the end of February. After 16 years, Byron Roche's business is moving exclusively to cyberspace, and will continue to represent his artists on-line. There will be a reception at the gallery Jan. 30, 11AM - 6PM, 750 N. Franklin.
Amanda Ross Ho has several large panels (12-1/2' x 50') featured in
Production Site: The Artist's Studio Inside Out at the
Museum of Contemporary Art. The opening bash is Feb. 4 - tickets must be purchased - and the show runs through May 30. Amanda will give a talk at the MCA auditorium on Feb. 6 at 3PM. Her show at the Sullivan Gallery (SAIC) continues through Feb. 13. Amanda's work can also be seen in several galleries: Mitchell, Innes and Nash in New York, Cherry and Martin in Los Angeles, and now she also shows her work in London at the Approach Gallery.

Rockford Midwestern Biennial 2010 last week. He had two pieces in the exhibit. The Rockford show continues through April 25; see last week's post.
Make art, not war! February 28 is the registration deadline for the
Global Art Project for Peace. There are participants on all the continents - groups and individuals (including children) can register. During March, art is created; in April, it is displayed, shared and exchanged with others. See the website for details:
